The Toowoomba Bird Observers Club was founded in 1975 by a passionate group of birding enthusiasts.  Over the years the group has grown markedly now hosting field trips and birding events.  The club has a low cost membership fee but is highly worth it.  The Toowoomba Bird Observers Website is a fantastic resource for all local birding information, a forum and the opportunities to share sightings and recordings with other like minded people.
Blue Bird Internet Marketing has created a Facebook Timeline Page for the TBO Club that will work as a fantastic resource for newtworking and sharing photographsby birders and wildlife lovers World Wide.  The photographs in the Facebook Page albums are equisite.

Wildlife, Bird and Nature Lovers and those interested in the Darling Downs Area will sure to be interested in the information and breath-taking photographs by local birding photographers on the TBO Facebook Page.  You can visit the page HERE.  Remember to press Like on the page and then browse the images in the Photos section.  Don't be afraid to leave a comment for the photographer!

This has been a most enjoyable project to work on and I am now inspired to improve my birding photography skills.

In August 2011, Blue Bird Internet Marketing did a Facebook Page Make-Over for on-line Business, Busty Bras and Lingerie. (See HERE for previous blogger post).  One of the changes at the time included a custom-made profile image for Busty Bra's and Lingerie's Facebook Business Page (see below) along with a Welcome Tab Design and Contact Tab.  With the new changes to Facebook Timeline for Pages, the previously used Profile Image Display picture has been markedly reduced in size and in replacement Facebook has given Pages the prime real-estate area of the Timeline Cover Photo.  Busty Bra's & Lingerie contacted me to create a whole new design that compliments their current website but without advertising the website in the cover image (as per Facebook regulations, see HERE for further information on this).
I am really happy with the cover image results and most importantly, business owner Elyse of Busty Bras and Lingerie is happy also.  Visit the Facebook Page of Busty Bras & Lingerie Here, or visit their on-line store Here.

Our Client, Passion 4 Papercrafting has uploaded a gorgeous bright image to their new Business Page Timeline, it really catches the eye and looks fantastic.
The new Facebook Timeline for Pages was launched last night with many new changes concerning page owners.  See my previous article about the changes HERE.  One of the fantastic new features is the Cover Photo Option.  This photo is like a prime piece of realestate and can be used in a variety of ways to display your business.  But as with everything on facebook, there are rules and consequences for those who do not obey.  The following rules relate to the new Timeline Page Cover Photos and should be followed. These rules are according to Facebook's Help Centre

Use a unique image that represents your Page. This might be a photo of a popular  menu item, album artwork or a picture of people using your product. Be creative and experiment with images your audience responds well to.

Cover images  must be at least 399 pixels wide and may not contain:
-    Price or purchase information, such as "40% off" or "Download  it at our  website"
-    Contact information, such as web address, email, mailing address or other  information intended for your Page's About Section.
-     References to user interface elements, such as Like or  Share, or any other Facebook site features
-     Calls to action, such as "Get it now" or "Tell your  friends"

All cover images are public, which means anyone visiting your Page will be  able to see the image you choose. Covers must not be false, deceptive or  misleading, and must not infringe on third parties' intellectual property. You
may not encourage or incentivize people to upload your cover image to their personal timelines.

I am sure over the next month we will see some amazing cover images.  If you would like to book a design with Blue Bird Internet Marketing, please Contact Us for further information and prices.  Existing Clients will receive a discount on new Cover Photo Designs.

Until next time

A Screen Shot of the Blue Bird Internet Marketing Facebook Page, with the conversion to Timline - without any changes being made. This is how your page will look prior to adding a cover image at change over.
Yesterday, Facebook announced a major change to Pages.  It has launched Facebook Timeline for Pages. On March 30, 2012 your Page will automatically get the new design, however you can change over to the new timeline layout now.

CHANGES YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT:
1.    The display of your page will be different!  Your custom profile picture design that you had on your old page, will now be displayed in a small square just below where your cover image will be. The cover image is very similar to your personal profile timeline cover image, however it will be a wonderful feature that you can use to utilize to suit your business or current promotions.
2.    Your display will now be in two columns as seen in the screen shot above, and displaying the timeline view,.
3.    Your Tabs are not lost, however they are displayed in small boxes across the top of the page, just below the cover image. (see above).  Custom landing pages are now removed and the timeline view is the only landing option.  Tabs can be arranged to suit your page, displaying the most important ones first.  Other tabs are displayed by a drop down box, see a screen shot of the Blue Bird Page below.

Tabs will be displayed in boxes at the top of your page, a drop down list will show your existing tabs like this. It is possible to arrange them in an order that suits your business.
4.    Regarding the timeline appearance and chronological order of posts, the new Pages has the ability to pin a post to the top of a page and a friend activity box that makes pages more relevant to each user. This is great for companies who can keep their important posts re events/specials at the top of the page.
5.    Custom Designed Tabs, now displayed in the new position, will remain the same, but have the option of a wider design now.  See Below example of our Welcome Page and how it looks with the new timline changes, without any design changes.

6.    Inviting Friends to your page will be easier!  The new admin options are very efficient for pages, with a variety of options to conveniently invite friends to your page.  There are easy options to invite friends my email, invite friends or share the page.
7.    Pinning!  This is the new feature I like the best (after the cover photo that is).  You have the option to pin a post on your timeline to the top. This can be very helpful for important information that you want your fans to see on opening your page.  By pinning the post to the top it won't dissapear into the new timeline world.  To pin your post, click on the right hand side of the post and click on the pencil, then on pin to top.
8.    Highlighting.  You can highlight a post of your choice by clicking on the star on the right hand side of the post.  This makes the post the width of the whole timeline and it will stand out from other posts on your page.

We will continue to keep you updated on changes that we discover with the new timeline pages and will update any new information to our blog and also by our email newsletter.  If you would like to sign up for the free monthly newsletter you can do so HERE.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts with the new timeline!  If you would like a custom cover image created, please contact us for a price.

Until Next Time,

I recently changed my personal Facebook Profile over to the new Timeline feature, and while I love the appearance of this new format, I decided to check on my Privacy settings.  I have always have custom settings for my personal privacy, and while checking on this, I discovered that some previous posts that I had made back in 2007 & 2008 were now viewable to anyone who happenned to click on my profile.  After going through and deleting these posts, I discovered this new option which eliminates making these changes individually.
  • Under Privacy Settings, click on Custom, then go down the page to "Limit the audience for past posts".  By clicking on this setting, it will manage your past post visibility and limit unwanted lookers to your page.
  • I also note that the new cover image that you can upload for your new timeline, will also be on show and unable to be hidden from prying eyes. I strongly suggest making this picture neutral, not one of your children/family or any pictures you wouldn't want strangers viewing.  I have seen some gorgeous beach cover backdrops, the options are endless!
