Foursquare has just introduced a new option where Business Owners (Merchant's) can list their opening hours on their Foursquare pages. There are also options for merchants to list specific times, e.g. Happy Hour, Live Music, Free Admission etc.  Just another way that businesses can utilize their Foursquare Listing and a very helpfull addition for Foursquare users I might add.

Instructions on how to Add Your Opening Hours to your Foursquare Page:  (From http://support.foursquare.com/home)
1. Log in as the manager of your venue and access your Manager Tools.
2. Click through to the dashboard of the venue that you’d like to add Hours to. Then Click on the “edit” button.
3. Click the button to “+ Add Hours”.
4. You’re then given the option to add your first set of venue Hours. A set of venue Hours includes:
+ When your business opens and closes
+ What days of the week run on this schedule
+ And what Special Periods are available during these days

So if you have different hours on the weekends, you would go through this flow once to add the Hours for Monday-Friday, and again to add the Hours for Saturday and Sunday.

If your venue has a Happy Hour, Brunch, or other 'special’ during the day, make note of it in the third step! Its a great way of letting users know that you offer special periods.

There has been much speculation about the New Timeline Page Features for Facebook this week, and I have had many emails and enquiries regarding the changes, so I thought I would do a few blog posts on my opinons of the positives of Timeline for Pages on Facebook.

The feature I like the most, is the new message feature.  A message Button is displayed on the top right of your timeline, just below your cover picture. (See Example Below) NB: Only those pages that have changed over to timeline will have this feature.
Message Button Displayed on Top Right Of Timeline Pages.
The Message Button is displayed on the top right of your Page, just under the cover photo.
How The Message Button Works:  Users or visitors of your page simply click on the Message button (displayed on the top right of your timeline page) and are then taken to another screen where they can type a message to the page owner.  There is also the option of adding a file or photo attachment.  (See Below)

What The Message Button Screen Looks Like on Timeline Pages
When Page owners open their business page on Facebook, they are now greeted with the Admin Panel automatically displayed above their timline page.  This is where Admins can check their insights etc and also where they check their messages.  The message section is located on the top right hand side of the admin panel.  (See Below)

Depending on your Facebook Settings, not only will you find your Page messages in the Admin Panel, but you should also receive an update by email to notify you of such messages.  With such a great option that is available for free, I do wonder if the Contact Tabs will be no longer needed for Facebook Pages?  The Contact Tabs however still provide fantastic links to all of the other social media accounts the page has, so I think the Contact Tab still has its place on Facebook Pages for the time being.

Until Next Time....
